GUIDELINES
1. All clubs to maintain a class register.
2. Children should be aware of the privilege afforded to them and treat their activities with respect.
3. Parental permission for all after school activities must be given in writing. Parents should indicate whether their children will be collected or whether children have their consent to walk home at the end of the club. Children are not allowed to stay after school for a club where a signed permission slip has not been received.
4. Where it is necessary to cancel a club, it is the responsibility of the teacher to inform parents and children as early as possible before the day of the club (via note or newsletter).
5. Parents must have arrangements in place for children to get home if outdoor clubs have to be cancelled on the day, due to bad weather. Parents are encouraged to telephone after 12.30 p.m. if they need confirmation of the club being on or off. Where children do not have pre-arrangements they will be kept in school, under the supervision of the teacher, until the normal finishing time of the club.
Children are not permitted to telephone home where arrangements have not been made.
6. Where high numbers of children show interest in a particular activity it may not be possible for all of them to take part. Teachers will need to use their judgement in making fair provision e.g. different groups each term, targeting children not involved in other clubs or giving priority to specific year groups
7. Charging for items/materials involved in making activities should be in line with the school's Charging Policy.
8. Parents must arrange for the prompt collection of their children at the end of each club activity, or ensure the children are clear about the arrangements for getting home.
9. The courtesy of a telephone or written notification of non-attendance should be made clear. If a child does not attend a club for 2 sessions without the teacher being advised of a planned absence he/she is liable to forfeit his/her place in the club.
10. If a child chooses to cease a club activity, it should be at the end of a term only.
11. Abuse of privilege (misbehaviour, disobedience, non-attendance) may, at the discretion of the teacher concerned, result in the loss of membership
12. Parents who have particular skills and expertise aligned to any extra-curricular area are encouraged to become involved in supporting the activity, provided they have been successfully CRB checked and are working under the direction and professional supervision of a member of the teaching staff.
