AUTUMN TERM NEWSLETTER 5
Monday 19th November, 2007
Dear Parents and Friends
MRS HARRIS
As I know you are aware, Mrs Harris is to retire at the end of this term after 15 years of genuinely dedicated service to St Peter's School. If you would like to contribute towards a gift of appreciation to be presented to her at the end of term please send it into your child's teacher or the school office by 30th November. Also, if you know parents of former St Peter's children, perhaps you would be kind enough to let them know of Mrs Harris' retirement and maybe they too might like to contribute. Thank you.
MRS DOIDGE
I very much regret that Mrs Doidge is not yet fit enough to return to work, and unfortunately at the moment I cannot give you any further news. Please continue to think of her and pray for her.
NETBALL TOURNAMENT
Our netball squad of Amy, Holly, Nathan, Emma, Jasmine, Megan and Hannah returned from the Area Schools' Netball tournament last week having performed extremely well, and on this occasion came a commendable third.
KELLY COLLEGE CHALLENGE
24 of our older children took part in a sporting obstacle challenge race along with most of the other local schools. We were thrilled that one of our teams, comprising Kris, Nathan, Amy, Benji and Emma came third out of 25 teams, following two Kelly teams who had been training for weeks! We are planning to take all the children to see a new childrens' drama/musical production called 'The Big Catch' at the Town Hall, next Monday, 26th November, during the afternoon. We will be walking to the Town Hall from school, ready for a 1.30 start. The performance will finish at about 3.00 p.m. after which the children will be dismissed. We appreciate that some of you have to collect younger children from St Rumon's first, so we will look after the children until you arrive, but please collect your child by 3.20 p.m. at the latest. Please return the reply slip at the end of this letter, by this Friday, indicating your permission for your child to attend and how he/she is to get home after the performance.
BRENTOR CLASS SPANISH DAY
Brentor children should have brought home a letter regarding a Spanish Culture and Language Day at the College on Tuesday 4th December, along with a consent form. If your child is to attend, it essential that this form is returned by this Wednesday. Mrs Witheyman in the school kitchen will provide a packed lunch for those children who normally have a school dinner. The children will be travelling to and from the College by coach.
A LIBRARY EXTRA FOR BRENTOR CLASS!
It's an eventful week for this class, as they have also been invited to visit the Town Library on Thursday 6th December, for an afternoon of seasonal crafts and storytelling. They will be walking to the library after lunch and will be dismissed from there at 3.20 p.m. Please arrange for your child to be collected promptly. Again, please complete and return the permission slip at the end of this letter. If any parents would like to help walk with the class as they make their way to the library, we would be most grateful. Thank you.
CLUB ACTIVITIES
There will be no club activities from 10th December for the rest of this term. These will recommence from the 7th January. The instrumental lessons will continue to the end of term.
CHRISTMAS LUNCH
If your child normally has a packed lunch, but would like to have a traditional Christmas lunch on 19th December, he/she would be most welcome to do so. The cost is £1.75, and this needs to be ordered and paid for by Monday 10th December.
TESCO TOKENS
These are still coming into school .... a very big thank you to you all. The children have started counting them, and I know there are going to be several thousand. Please, if you know of the whereabouts of any more, send them in to school now. Unfortunately, no matter how late we leave sending them off to get our sports equipment, more always turn up later. It's such a shame to waste them!
Yours sincerely
J George
